The regional winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program have been announced, honoring men and women who create products, services and jobs that help to grow the economy and their communities, as well as encouraging others to follow their lead.
Some of the regional winners include the yogurt company Chobani, stock image website Shutterstock, online deal site ideeli, medical financier Bankers Healthcare Group, and IT and project management firm Blue Canopy.
More than 1,700 entrepreneurs and new businesses were nominated for the 2012 awards, according to Ernst & Young. Those companies “generated revenue of over $235 billion.”
The national award winners, selected from the pool of regional winners, will be announced in the fall.
Last year, Ernst & Young recognized LinkedIn, Groupon, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Red Ventures and Green Dot Corporation, among others, as the national winners.
